AAIS Quarterfinals Begin Friday for Softball and Lacrosse!

April showers make way for TRUE BLUE power!

The playoffs have arrived and beginning on Friday, the Sabers will be on the prowl to end the spring in signature True Blue style, roaring and ready to leave their best on the field.

AAIS Softball Playoffs on Friday, May 12 will pit #4 Spence vs. #5 NBS at Randall’s Island Field 18 at 3:30pm. The Sabers’ youthful exuberance, guided by savvy and experienced veterans will look to continue a late season run that saw the team win 3 of their last 4 games in the regular season. Pitching tandem of Eliza B. and Fiona F. will look to continue their dominance as they befuddle opposing hitters.  Mary Ben A. and Chloe S. are cornerstones to the high-energy Spence defense.  Speed on the base paths, a Spence hallmark will put a great deal of added pressure on the Sabers’ foe. Emma D., Adia K., Cate O. and Kai S. bring a wealth of post-season experience to the team’s quest for a return to post-season glory and will marshal the group of Isabelle V., Hayden R., Cameron K. and Alexandra R., making their first foray into post-season play. The winner of Friday’s Quarterfinal game will advance to the AAIS Semifinal on Monday, May 15.

AAIS Lacrosse Playoffs on Friday, May 12th will see a rematch of one of the most competitive and hotly contested games in the league this season, between #4 Marymount and #5 Spence at Asphalt Green at 4:15pm. The Sabers have secured the highest tournament seed in the program’s 8-year history and are playing their best team lacrosse of the season, having gained significant experience playing one of the most competitive non-league schedules ever. The team’s two-way play, featuring Sara Rose S., Caroline S., Izzy P., Indira T. and Sammy C. demonstrates an investment in stretching the field using speed, intelligence and good old fashioned hard work.  The team’s attack is a grinding possession first game that utilizes skill and stealth from Amelia R., Sophie G., Emily K., Anna P., Audrey F. and Sylvie K. The defensive core of Sarah P., Mado W., Siew T., Caleigh B., and Georgina D. are the epitome of True Blue play, taking pride in every stop, ground ball and turning defense into offense. The backbone of the team’s ferocity is unquestionably goalkeeper, Savy R. Student Assistant, Sophia N. has been wealth of support and knowledge for the team each step of the way throughout the season. The winner of Friday’s Quarterfinal will advance to the AAIS Semifinal round, to be played Monday, May 15.
