Thank you for your interest in Spence!
Spence actively seeks students who reflect the racial, cultural, religious and socioeconomic diversity of the wider world. The School enrolls students in Grades K through 12 from all boroughs of New York City, as well as from parts of Westchester County, Connecticut and New Jersey. We look forward to exploring the lifelong impact of a Spence education with you and your daughter.
To learn about our school, we encourage you to explore the entire website and to follow us on Instagram @thespenceschool. On the Events page of the Admissions section of the website, a list of our events will be posted along with dates, times and registration information as details become available.
Our admissions season for the 2020-2021 school year will launch in late August. Submissions of online inquiries and applications can be done at that time. We will begin scheduling virtual tours and interviews on Thursday, September 3. Scheduling information will be available as the date approaches.
We look forward to connecting with you during the 2020-2021 admissions season—continuing our personal and welcoming admissions process while also adhering to school safety guidelines. Spence’s admission events, tours, and interviews will be conducted virtually.

  • Parents and students will learn about the school through several videos that we have prepared, by reading about the school on our website, by following us on Instagram and by attending our virtual events
  • Parent interviews for all grades and MS/US student interviews will take place via Zoom
  • Kindergarten assessment will take place utilizing the TEAA assessment tool (more information about the assessment and registration will be provided)
  • Spence Assessments for MS/US students will be through at-home testing
We will continue to require the submission of school records and standardized tests scores for MS/US applicants (ISEE or SSAT) and the ISAAGNY Confidential Report for Kindergarten and Lower School applicants. Specific information and greater detail will be provided towards the end of August.
We do not have openings for the 2020 academic year at this time. For those who may be interested in exploring this option, please file an online inquiry so that we have a record of interest and contact information should a spot become available.
