Home of the Sabers: 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2022 AAIS Tournament Champions, 2024 AAIS Regular Season Champions  and 2022 NYSAIS Semifinalists

In 2024 the youthful Sabers clawed their way through the regular season as the undefeated AAIS Regular Season Champions, before finishing as the league tournament runner-up. It was the Sabers 3rd consecutive year in the AAIS Championship game.

The program has established an identity as a strong hitting exciting offense, backstopped by exceptional pitching.

In 2022 the Sabers returned to the diamond and captured their 4th AAIS Championship title since 2015. The 2022 AAIS Champions then won their NYSAIS Quarterfinal game to advance to the NYSAIS semifinals for the first time in program history!  In 2018 Spence’s AAIS tournament championship marked their third championship title in four years.

Prior to COVID, Spence captured the 2018 AAIS Softball Regular Season and Tournament Co-Championship titles to complement the program’s 2017 and 2015 AAIS tournament titles. The 2018 AAIS tournament championship was their third title in four years. In 2018, the Sabers also returned to the NYSAIS tournament for the first time since 2009. In 2009, Spence was crowned AAIS regular-season champion.

A program that has become a model of consistent excellence, Varsity Softball plays a highly competitive AAIS regular-season schedule in preparation for the challenging postseason tournament.

Student-athletes will focus on advanced individual skill development and the incorporation of those skills into situational game strategies. Randall’s Island is the primary venue for practices and home games. As is the case with all varsity teams, softball is a Monday-through-Friday commitment. Athletes are required to supply their own gloves and wear sport-appropriate footwear (molded cleats).
