A ROARING True Blue Homecoming Sweep for the Sabers!

On a picturesque fall weekend, the Spence community, led by the Class of ’22, rekindled the True Blue magic of Homecoming. Upper school students, holding up signs made by Spence lower and middle schoolers, made sure to represent the celebration and passion of what it means to be a Saber!  From Friday’s opening kick of Varsity Soccer at Asphalt Green it was clear, the Sabers were back in action and ready to POUNCE! Spence demonstrated their versatility, playing fast and skilled to build their lead and with unified dogged determination to seal the 3-1 victory in an all important AAIS league match.  
 
Feeding from momentum of Friday, with 412 decked out in spirited posters from Sabers fans from Kindergarten through Grade 6, the JV Volleyball team took to the court in front of a raucous crowd in THE DEN, prepared to start Saturday off with their trademark snarl! After Spence captured game one of the best of three, the proud Sacred Heart side was not going to go quietly. Pushing Spence to dig into their deep and plentiful bag of tricks, the Sabers demonstrated their resilience with a rally that brought the rowdy crowd to its feet, securing the 2-0 match victory in dramatic 29-27 fashion!
 
Heading into the final match of the weekend, the Varsity Volleyball team was charged with securing the sweep in front of a crowd of roaring Sabers’ faithful, including the Class of ’22 leading the boisterous charge from the gallery. Spence took the first two games of the best of five, and as all worthy opponents do, Sacred Heart did not go down without a fight, forcing a 4th game and bringing the Class of ’22 out of the gallery to courtside, adding a deafening roar to the pawesome atmosphere in the Sabers’ Den. The leaders of the Sabers' pack left no doubt in Game 4, delivering the 3-1 match victory for the Spence Homecoming sweep! 
 
The spirit of Sabers’ pack was on full display throughout the spectacular Homecoming Weekend, and with their collective grit and determination they pronounced the long 18 month hibernation, officially over!! The Sabers have come ROARING back and the Spence faithful BLEED BLUE!
