Independent Science Research Fellows Present Findings at Symposium

Grade 12 Independent Science Research (ISR) Fellows presented research and findings during their capstone experience of the three-year science elective at the ISR Symposium. Families, peers and faculty were in attendance to learn about the research methodologies and results of their findings. During the Symposium, nine juniors and three seniors also presented poster displays, which summarized ongoing research.

Students presented on a variety of self-chosen subjects, which included the safety and efficacy of therapies on Crohn’s Disease, the role of the ApoE4 gene in Alzheimer’s Disease, the use of AI models to analyze principal components of breast cancer tumors and more. During all three years of their fellowships, students share their ongoing research with one another, as a community of researchers, through formal presentations during class meetings. Over 30 students are ISR Fellows, working with Dalia Aidoo, Head of the Science Department, and Aruna Chavali, Upper School Science Teacher, who are faculty advisors for the program. In addition to peer collaboration, ISR Fellows work alongside professionals in a scientific community, performing research in laboratory settings.

Congratulations to the graduating 2023 ISR Fellows on their outstanding research and presentations!
