Middle School Robotics Team Wins First-Place Award at NYC Championship
Throughout the school year, the spirited Middle School Robotics team has been meeting weekly after school to learn new programming languages, sharpen their research abilities and build robots. From developing complex LEGO robot cars to creating their unique team names (the ener-GenZ-ers and fireQUACKers) the Middle School Robotics team embodies the creative, collaborative and imaginative qualities needed to be successful computer programmers.
They have brought the same attitude and determination to this year’s competitions, their very first season. Both Spence teams advanced to the New York City Championships of the
FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge, a competition that tasks teams with engineering a LEGO robot that can navigate the missions of a robot game. The ener-GenZ-ers and fireQUACKers competed alongside 51 other teams from public and independent schools across the city. The fireQUACKers won the First Place Core Values Award, an achievement that recognizes the extraordinary enthusiasm, spirit and respect that the team radiates.
