Home of the Sabers: 2021 and 2019 AAIS Regular Season and Tournament Champions

In 2023 the Sabers will return to the pitch, no longer an underdog, but having won 2 of the last 3 AAIS Soccer Championships. The 2023 Sabers will have one of the most balanced teams in program history boasting returning league all-stars up front and anchoring the midfield, complimented by talented playmakers one of the stingiest defenses in the AAIS.  

 

In both 2021 and 2019 the Sabers took a talented and seasoned group and utilized their collective experience to elevate the program to the next level, achieving their long-standing goal of a league title. It was the culmination of years of hard work and investment in a process designed for long term success. Most impressive was their 2021 AAIS Championship titles, returning after the year’s COVID hiatus.

In 2017, Spence advanced to the AAIS semifinal, and qualified for the NYSAIS tournament for the first time in 18 years. In 2013 and 2011, Spence also advanced to the AAIS semifinal before falling in penalty kicks. A highly competitive AAIS regular season schedule prepares the team for the challenging AAIS postseason tournament. 

 

Practice will be Monday through Friday on Randall’s Island. Athletes are required to supply their own shin guards and to wear sport-appropriate footwear (molded cleats or turf shoes).
