Sabers Stalk More Hardware at the AAIS Track & Field Championship

“Run fast, take chances” is the refrain that has suited the Sabers’ Track and Field team for many years. One of the most consistently top performing programs in the league, Spence is a well-balanced and well-trained team stalking points in every discipline: long distance, middle distance, sprints, relays, jumps and throws. In a team championship setting, it’s not about a single athlete winning a single event, it’s takes every athlete on the prowl to hunt down every point. Every performance counts and 7th place finish in an event could be the very performance that puts the team over the top to claim the team crown.

Today will be a great opportunity for athletes who have been preparing all season to take chances and leave it all on the track, in True Blue fashion!

On the track:
Taking their mark in the 100 hurdles will be, Hannah R., Grace F. and Jaize F. Jaize and Hannah will look to double up their points in the 400m hurdles.

In the 100m and 200m dash, sprinters Hadley H., Lucy R. and Emma V. will look to set the track ablaze in the meet’s fastest events.

In the 400m, Yaqara P. and Malia K. will push for points in one of the most exciting races of the meet.

Known to be one of the most mentally challenging races, Esme L. and Sylvie P. will toe the line in the 800m.

Distance specialists, Eloise F., Caroline C. and Emma H. will work as a trio to take down the field in the 3000m.

In the 100mN, Jo H., Kinara P., Missy F., Daijah G., Liva S. and Amanda T. will make their AAIS Championship debut. And in the 1600 Sprint Medley relay, Rachel M., Amanda, Daijah and Livia will take their marks in the combined event.

In the meet ending relays, Spence will have the Penn Relay’s foursome of Laura F., Lucy R., Emma V. and Handley H. in the blocks for the 4x100. In the 4x400m relay, Grace F., Malia K., Cristina M. and Esme L. have their eyes on the school’s record in the event. In the 4x800m relay, is where Spence’s depth shows with Cristina, Caroline, Eloise and Emma H. will shine.

In the field events:
The High Jump will feature Zoe C. and Grace F. with Alison P., Jordyn L. and CeCe J. leaping in the long jump. Jordyn and Grace will put their power on display joining forces with indoor federation qualifier, Laura F. in the Triple Jump.

In the throws, Katie R., Julia S. and Alison will throw for points in the Shot Put.  Greer B., Laura and Alison will be on the prowl in the discus.

No better way to end one of the most exciting weeks of the year for the Sabers than with one of the most exciting events of the year!

GO SABERS!
