Sabers Race to HERstoric Finish at NYSAIS Cross Country Championships and Top State Ranking

After securing the AAIS Cross Country Championship for the third year in a row, the Spence Sabers continued their winning streak at the NYSAIS Championships, racing to the Independent School state title for the second consecutive year. This accomplishment earned the team the opportunity to represent NYSAIS at the NYS Federation Championships, where the top 31 teams in the state raced at Bowdoin Park in Wappinger’s Falls. In addition to securing a #1 finish among all NYC teams, the Sabers powered their way to an eighth place finish statewide.

The course at Bowdoin Park consists of rolling hills alongside the Hudson River with challenging terrain and narrow turns; it’s widely regarded as one of the most challenging courses in the northeast. In the last half of the race, every member of the team advanced at least two positions for the team to ROAR to a HERstoric top 10 finish!

Congratulations to the Sabers and to all the teams and runners who competed in this year’s NYS Federation Championship.
