Spence’s Instrumental Teacher Performs at White House

Renowned musician and Spence’s Instrumental Music Teacher Gregory Harrington had the extraordinary opportunity to perform at an intimate gathering at the White House for the President, the House Speaker, the Taoiseach (Irish Prime Minister), Ambassadors, and members of Congress. Organized by the House Speaker's office, the event showcased a blend of contemporary and traditional Irish culture, with Harrington performing iconic Irish songs beginning with U2 and finishing with "The Parting Glass" and "The Swallowtail Jig.”

Following the performance, Harrington was invited into the Oval Office for a private meeting with President Biden to discuss family, Irish heritage, and shared experiences.

Harrington’s cross-cultural and wide-reaching appeal has brought him to perform as a soloist with orchestras and his performing groups in major concert halls around the globe. He has been an integral member of Spence’s instrumental community, and has been conducting the orchestra and teaching violin at Spence since 2002.
