Tess Druckenmiller '11 Performs at Spence Middle School Assembly

In a special Middle School assembly last week, Tess Druckenmiller ’11 took the stage to share her music, her path to becoming a professional in the technology industry, and how she manages to balance her two distinct passions.

Druckenmiller's singing-songwriting career began during her years at Spence, where she was an active member of Glee Club and Triple Trio, while also taking piano and voice lessons. One day, her voice instructor challenged her to write her own song and bring it to the next lesson. Initially daunted by the task, Tess embraced the challenge and discovered an unexpected passion for songwriting. Over time, this talent became a creative outlet and a valuable stress-reliever during difficult periods at school and work.

Druckenmiller performed her own compositions, “Jones” and “November,” and closed with a cover of a Justin Bieber song, inviting students to join in. In sharing her experiences with the Middle School students, Druckenmiller emphasized the importance of embracing unexpected opportunities along their journeys. She also credited the School's role in shaping her ability to pursue her interests in math and science alongside her love for music. She encouraged the students to keep an open mind, noting that life doesn't always follow a predetermined plan.
