About Spence

Spence 412

Overview

The Spence School is building an athletic and educational facility—Spence 412—at 412 East 90th Street. In collaboration with Rogers Partners Architects, Spence has combined imagination and purpose in what will be a living commitment to athletics, the arts and ecology at Spence. The facility will include a regulation-size gymnasium for volleyball and basketball; nine squash courts, including an exhibition court; a multipurpose room for the performing arts; as well an ecology center and outdoor education space.

412 Retrofitted For Grades 6-8 Academics

January 2021

On January 25, with 412 substantially completed, we welcomed Grades 6, 7 and 8 to the building, which allowed for all K-12 students to be in-person.

To facilitate this temporary, yet important use, 412 was retrofitted to include 13 classrooms, faculty offices, and Zoom breakout rooms. When possible, 412 will be reverted back to its original design and use as an Athletic and Educational Center.
