Grades 7-8 swimming will introduce of a variety of strokes and distances, and will focus on developing competitive swimming skills and is the gateway to competitive varsity swim team. Students will incorporate their skills into the team meet setting and swim different events to build their event versatility and meet experience. Grades 7-8 swimming is NOT a learn-to-swim program. Student-athletes should be able to swim a minimum of 50 yards in at least two strokes.
The team practices 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday primarily at Riverbank State Park but also at other facilities based upon availability. Athletes are required to supply their own swimsuits, towels and goggles and to attend all practices and competitions. After practice, students are picked up at Spence 91.
