Home of the Stingrays
A challenging AAIS schedule prepares the team for a highly competitive AAIS postseason championship meet. In 2018-2019 the Stingrays finished a strong campaign with a 4th place finish at the AAIS Championships and made their first appearance at the NYSAIS Championship. In 2019-20 Spence will dive-in with the goal of building upon the long-standing tradition of Spence swimming success. As a longtime AAIS swimming power, two of the league’s oldest records (200 Freestyle Relay and 100 Backstroke) are still held by Stingrays. The Stingrays also boasted back-to-back Academic All-America selections in 2013-2014 and 2014-2015. In 2013, the Stingrays finished third at the AAIS championship.
Practices are Monday through Friday with an additional optional Saturday of training. The team trains at Asphalt Green and Convent of the Sacred Heart, Trinity and Dwight pools, as well as additional fitness training three times a week to prepare athletes to swim competitively in a variety of events and distances. Athletes are required to supply their own practice swimsuits, towels and goggles.
