Young Alumnae Families Event 2016

As a Spence student, the thought of one day being a mother seems so far away. As young alumnae, those thoughts have become our reality. We are now mothers with little ones, and with a greater understanding of the motto, “Not for school but for life we learn.” What better way to celebrate our wise positions than to bring our families to the place that housed our “school family” for all those years. The third annual Young Alumnae Families Event presented an opportunity for us to return to Spence on Saturday, February 6, 2016.

We brought our children to participate in Valentine’s Day-themed arts and crafts, enjoy a musical concert by Little Maestros and, in essence, have one big play date with 50 children, ranging from infants to 5-year-olds. Approximately 55 alumnae and their families came to catch up with friends, meet their new families and see just how much we have all grown up. While the real stars of the event were the smiling and laughing children, it was nice to see our peers in a new way. There is a diversity in our experiences but a commonality in our motherhood. We cherish our memories and the children now have new Spence teddy bears to treasure.
