Milly Silva-Bermudez ’89 Named One of the Most Influential Women in NJ Politics

Congratulations to Spence alumna Milagros “Milly” Silva-Bermudez ’89, Executive Vice President of 1199SEIU, on receiving this honor!

As executive vice president for 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, the world’s largest local union with nearly 400,000 members, Milagros “Milly” Silva-Bermudez ’89 oversees operations in New Jersey, working with her team to represent employees in the healthcare industry. Her focus is not only to improve their benefits, salaries and overall working conditions, but also to “improve the quality and care patients, clients and consumers receive.” 

This month, Milly was named one of the “30 Most Influential Women in New Jersey Politics” by PolitickerNJ. This impressive group also includes the lieutenant governor as well as “state senators, assemblywoman, lobbyists, union leaders and mayors,” among others.
