Spence Students Shine in Entrepreneurial Competition
Four Grade 10 students showcased their entrepreneurial skills at Prep for Prep’s Institute for Entrepreneurship (IFE) Business Competition, where they presented business plans for startups of their own creation and competed for seed money to invest in their proposed businesses.
Aabriti K. and Mercedes U. placed second for their proposal of Foster, an app that would connect dogs in overcrowded shelters with foster families. Emily K. and Madison W. were runners-up with their business plan for Prepared, a meal planning app. Two out of six finalist teams in the competition were Spence students.
To prepare for the competition, students spent five weeks during the summer learning basic business and economic concepts, coding and app development and how to create their own business plans. In addition, each student worked with a mentor from Google NYC to refine their business idea and pitch.
Congratulations to Spence’s very own future entrepreneurs—we can’t wait to see what you do next!
