Middle School History Teaching Fellow

MIDDLE SCHOOL HISTORY TEACHING FELLOW
Full-time position to begin August 2019

 
Overview
Our two-year Fellows program provides mentorship and training for aspiring teachers with a passion for working with middle-school-aged children.

Responsibilities
  • Co-teach four sections of Middle School History
  • Work closely with a mentor on lesson planning and pedagogy
  • Serve as Middle School Advisor or Grade 5 Homeroom teacher
  • Serve on planning teams

Qualifications
  • Finds joy in working with children and in school life
  • Approaches work with optimism, energy, kindness, and a sense of humor
  • Demonstrates cultural competency and skills engaging with and learning from people with diverse backgrounds and experiences
  • Supports Spence’s commitment to equity
  • Demonstrated interest in working with children ages 10 to 14
  • Bachelor’s degree in History or related field of study
  • Disposition toward learning from and with colleagues about teaching practice
