Sabers’ Volleyball Seeded #5 in Upcoming NYSAISAA Playoffs

The body of work this season for the Sabers’ Volleyball team has earned them the #5 seed in the NYSAISAA playoffs, beginning on Tuesday, October 30, at 5 p.m. at the Nightingale Gymnasium. Spence entered the AAIS league tournament as the #3 seed, advancing to the league championship with a semifinal upset victory over #2 seeded Nightingale. Despite two see-saw games to open their run at #1 seed, Marymount in Friday night’s championship match, Spence was unable to tip the scales in their favor. The Sabers finished as the AAIS tournament runner-up to Marymount.
Playing in one of the most competitive volleyball leagues in NYSAISAA, the AAIS has 4 teams selected to the 15-team tournament field to decide the 2018 state championship for New York’s Independent Schools. #5 Spence joins #2 Marymount, #7 Chapin and #10 Convent of the Sacred Heart in the tournament field.
The #5 Sabers, NYSAISAA Volleyball Champions in 2008, 2009 and 2014 will first face #12 Columbia Prep on Tuesday, October 30, at 5 p.m. at the Nightingale gym, in their quest for a 2018 Championship.
Seniors, Ava F. and Bailey M. will look to lead a youthful and hungry group of Sabers on the challenging title pursuit. With a victory, the Sabers will play on the road in the quarterfinal on Wednesday.
