Sabers’ Varsity Volleyball On The Prowl for AAIS Title

The Sabers clawed and scratched their way through an epic back and forth AAIS semifinal match, against the talented and determined Nighthawks of Nightingale.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the match, Nightingale evened the match at 1 game a piece. Both teams wrestled to control the tempo of the match with with runs of 3, 4 and 5 points only to be countered by their opponents. With the tension mounting on every serve, the Sabers took the edge by the slimmest of 2 point margins in the third game to take the 2-1 lead into the all important fourth game.
It was obvious, the match was going to come down to composure, the focus and determination to play cool under pressure and the confidence that comes from preparing in practice 1,000 times, for moments just like these. Every pass, swing, block and servethere is no room for passive or tentative playthere is a chance to play for a championship on the linewhich team is going to reach out and grab it?
At 24-24, the Sabers had the serve and controlled their own destiny. As a team, there is no better feeling than having your fate in your own handsthe signature moment where it comes down to doing your job, having complete confidence in your teammates to do their job and knowing without a shadow of a doubt that your team is going to SABER THE MOMENT, it belongs to your team.
26-24, 3 games to 1, Spence Volleyball is back in the AAIS Championship, hunting down a title on Friday, October 26, at 6 p.m. at the Brearley Field House! Come ROAR with the Sabers!
