Varsity Volleyball Claws Their Way to AAIS Quarterfinal Victory

The #3 seeded Sabers' Varsity Volleyball team had to battle an upset minded #6 seeded Brearley squad, in the AAIS Varsity Volleyball Quarterfinal on Monday afternoon. After dropping the first game of the match, Spence found their backs up against the wall of the Den. In what is the generational identity of the program, the Sabers' were buoyed by contributions from throughout their roster, clawing their way back to even in the match. After Spence took a 2-1 lead, Brearley took advantage of some less than focused play and made one more push for their upset bid, evening the match at 2 games apiece.
With their season on the line, the Sabers pounced on their opponents, racing out to a fast start in the 5th and deciding game. Braced for the inevitable push back, Spence closed the deal, fueled by the roar of the Sabers' faithful, in the raucous Den. 
The Sabers will undoubtedly utilize the lessons learned as they advance to face Nightingale on Wednesday, at 4:30 p.m. at NBS. The AAIS Semifinal will provide Spence with the opportunity to avenge one of their only two regular season league defeats. On the line for the Sabers, a chance to return to the AAIS Varsity Volleyball Championship match, for the 7th consecutive season.
