Additional instruction and academic support
In the Lower School
The Resource Center for Kindergarten through Grade 4 provides academic support for students and consultation for parents and faculty. Currently, resource teachers team with homeroom teachers primarily in the teaching of reading, working with small groups as well as individual students. Resource teachers also provide additional instruction and academic support outside the classroom for small groups and individual students. Resource teachers coordinate testing and educational evaluations when needed. The Resource Center works with faculty to promote teaching strategies that benefit a range of learning styles.
In the Middle and Upper Schools
-
In Grades 5 through 12, the Resource Center is an education and information service for students, teachers and parents. Support programs for small groups are offered for students who have difficulty with study skills, reading, fundamentals of mathematics, spelling, writing and/or language. Members of the Resource Center work with faculty to promote teaching strategies that benefit a range of learning styles.
The Resource Center organizes lectures and workshops for parents and teachers on learning-related issues. Middle and Upper School students are referred by a teacher or an advisor, or may choose to make use of the center on their own.
