Grade 2 Animation Project
Grade 2 students worked with their computer class teachers, Ms. Augustine and Ms. Blumberg, to create the animation seen here. As a part of this annual project, which is a cross-curricular collaboration between the Technology and Performing Arts Departments, students learn how to design and program a collaborative animation using an application called MicroWorlds EX. Each student chose one line of the traditional song, "Turkey in the Straw" and created a simple storyboard to plan her animation. Then they learned how to use specific LOGO commands to create moving characters. The animation was presented on February 26 as part of the Grade 2 Dance and Music Performance, featuring singing and dance organized by the Performing Arts Department.
With the theme of wildlife found in the garden, this year's Dance and Music Performance, "Garden Party," also featured songs and dances such as "Shoo Fly," the Tom Petty song "Wildflowers," and multicultural pieces like "Hotaru Koi," a Japanese children's song.
