Spence’s Anahera S-M. ’27 had the distinct honor of performing her first solo at the United States Postal Service’s dedication ceremony for this year’s Black Heritage stamp. 

USPS paid tribute to civil rights activist and pioneering jurist Constance Baker Motley, the first Black woman to argue a case before the U.S. Supreme Court and serve as a federal judge. 

Previously Anahera has taken part in the Metropolitan Opera’s production of Porgy and Bess and in the Opera Queen of Spades. She’s had continuous training with the National Children’s Chorus, the Dance Theater of Harlem, Ballet Hispanico and the Alvin Ailey Dance Theater. She currently sings with the Mama Foundation for the Arts as part of their Performing Before Live Audiences program.
